General Motors (GM), the largest American manufacturer, today called for workshops 322.000 Impala vehicles in its model due to a problem with the front seatbelt.
In the worst case, the company said, the belts can be pulled in case of an accident. Workshops called GM cars manufactured in 2009 and 2010.
The automaker said that so far has received no reports of mishaps or accidents that have been injured or killed. All current industry reacts with particular sensitivity to information about possible technical defects.
The case is especially delicate for GM because the company plans to go public again expected in November.
Its main competitor, Japan’s Toyota, had serious problems earlier this year by a call to workshops more than eight million vehicles by problems with the accelerator pedal and a foot mat slipping.
Several U.S. politicians accused the company Japan, the world leader in the automotive sector, have delayed the repairs. GM then tried to gain ground in the local market.
