Commercial Fuel Cards and GPS Tracking Efficiencies

Fuel cards give fleet vehicle companies an advantage towards fuel costs management. Still, in some places purchase of fuel cards is on a steady decline, as is the case in Europe since 2007. In 2009 the market of European commercial fuel cards had a worth of 71,536 million Euros. Of all the fuel purchases made throughout Europe, 21.8% of them were made at service stations using fuel cards and mainly for diesel.

Currently the largest fuel cards market in Europe is held by Germany, but the popularity of fuel cards varies across the continent. The majority of fuel card volumes in the continent are held by such oil company card issuers as Shell, BP and Total.

Even so, fuel cards are just one of the solutions to fleet vehicle management. GPS tracking solutions are rapidly being adopted by sensible business owners because they provide more efficiency and productivity to businesses with field operations. Vehicle tracking gives managers better perceptibility and control over their crew, giving them the ease to dispatch the closest vehicle to a job site while monitoring vehicle use and driver behavior. Fleet GPS tracking also helps improve gas savings, worker productivity and vehicle repairs.
